Lady Lovely Locks and the Pixietails was an American cartoon that aired from 1984 to 1987. I didn't watch much of the show, but like most little girls my age I had the doll. Lady Lovely Locks was a genius of 80's marketing--what little girl didn't want to be a princess with long blonde-and-punky-striped hair and keep magical pastel rodents as pets? At any rate, the character design made enough of an impression on me that the back of my brain kept whispering, "You should cosplay Lady Lovely Locks...you should...you know you want to..." for years.
So, one day I finally decided to make the costume, and 10 yards of pink duchess satin, 15 yards of eyelet lace, 20 yards of tulle, 8 yards of muslin, 10 yards of rope, 22 ribbon appliques, 2.5 wigs and 1 clay rabbit later, I looked exactly like my childhood doll.
I'm here to tell all of you that corded petticoats weigh a ton. And my Pixietail's name is Ed.
