Beyond Good and Evil is one of my favorite video games and I think that Jade is a superb female character. I was (and still am) sorely disappointed in the lack of BGE cosplay, so I decided to make Jade based on her in-game model.
I made the costume over the course of 6 months, pulling together a ton of reference images, a lot that I had to get in-game myself and sketch out all the little details so I could get her just right. It took a while to plan because I wanted to find just the right color and type of fabric--since Jade is a bunch of greens, I wanted to make sure I didn't clash. The pants are my favorite part--I just happened to find a remnant of deep green short-velvet and decided it was enough of an embellishment for the design along the sides of her pants, and the main fabric is a moleskin, which is so soft and comfy to wear. I made all my props, from the Dai-jo stick, backpack, belts, and camera. It was hard to find one consistent design on the belts, so I had fun making up a design that still looked like the original.
Jade is still one of my favorite costumes to wear, and I need to wear her more often. She's super comfortable!
