Wanna know why? Evali had a skit inspiration Fall 2004 that had both of the other girls absolutely rolling. And it was only really funny if Naruto, Sasuke, and Gaara had become Sexy-No-Jutsu versions of themselves.
The girls were in the middle of watching Naruto at the time, so they loved the characters. But choosing the costume set was even more about the challenge. How do you make an outfit that is just 'clouds' both accurate AND modest at the same time? Imriela rolled up her sleeves and set to work on a pattern.
While Babyberry researched nude undergarments, Evali began making purses: because it was pretty evident that nothing could be carried on them while wearing these things! She decided to make giant kunai blades that opened up via zippers. Attached to each ring was a keychain signifying who it belonged to: An Uchiha fan, A gourd, and Naruto's anime keychain, a little Pakkun. Each girl also made her own girlified wig. Evali hand embroidered her Leaf shoes, but sadly no one noticed.
The outfits were a big success and are often mentioned to this day by strangers and friends alike. The girls are not ashamed to have done the infamous with these costumes, but they do wish people would step back from their negative connotations and actually realize sometimes people make costumes like this for fun, not for guys to drool over.
Oh, and the skit? Let's just say it was called "Baby Got Ninja" and parodied a notorious rap song. Perhaps you can convince them to perform it for you; they've still got it memorized.
